Blossom Academy, Ghana’s leading data and AI workforce accelerator, has announced groundbreaking results from a two-year independent randomized control trial (RCT) conducted by BFA Global and funded by the Livelihood Impact Fund. The study confirms Blossom Academy’s transformative impact on earnings, career alignment, and job stability for young professionals across the continent.
The evaluation, which tracked 97 participants at baseline across Blossom Academy’s two concurrent cohorts of 25 students each, found that Blossom Academy generates a 5.04x social return on investment (SROI), outperforming the global benchmark of 5x in the majority of scenarios analyzed. Within 24 months of completing the program, Fellows earned an average of $300 more per month than their peers, with median monthly wages rising by $96. These significant wage gains were achieved even as many Fellows, particularly women, strategically prioritized full-time education for long-term career growth.
Fellows also demonstrated stronger career outcomes, being three times more likely to achieve full alignment with their long-term career aspirations. They were significantly more likely to break into the analytics field, with higher rates of both data-specific occupations and employment within the analytics industry.
In addition to higher earnings, Blossom Academy Fellows secured superior job stability. By 2025, over 70% held permanent positions, compared to just over half of their peers, and a slightly greater share of Fellows reported being able to sustain themselves with a single job.
The RCT also captured inspiring individual trajectories. One Fellow, after temporarily reducing his income to pursue additional training, advanced to a role paying $3,500 per month in data analytics. Another Fellow, a woman who transitioned from human resources into data analytics, increased her salary steadily to $6,500 per month, achieving both professional growth and complete alignment with her career goals.
Graduates credited Blossom Academy’s world-class instructors, rigorous coursework, and the powerful culture of job-sharing among peers as the most valuable elements of their journey. Real-world projects and mentorship ensured that participants were not only job-ready but positioned as leaders in Africa’s emerging data economy.
“These results validate what we have always believed: when African youth are given the right skills, mentorship, and opportunities, they don’t just find jobs, they create lasting economic impact,” said Jeph Acheampong, Founder of Blossom Academy. “Blossom is not only shaping individual futures but also accelerating Africa’s transition into a data-driven economy.”
Blossom Academy is setting a new benchmark for workforce development in Africa, proving that data and AI skills are not only tools for individual advancement but powerful drivers of continental prosperity. With this evidence, Blossom stands at the forefront of Africa’s economic transformation, equipping the next generation to thrive globally while building resilient, future-ready industries at home.
