I work as a Data Analyst and Machine Learning Engineer. I turn messy data into clean data for analysis. I build data pipelines to automate the entire data-cleaning process. I also build vision and speech models for use-case-specific tasks.
HOW DID BLOSSOM ACADEMY SUPPORT YOU IN PREPARING FOR YOUR CAREER?
Blossom Academy gave me the skills and resources to get started in this field. After the training, I was able to secure an internship with their help. I’ve also kept in touch with my instructors and other alumni, who have helped me whenever I faced challenges.
IF YOU COULD GO BACK AND SPEAK TO YOURSELF ON YOUR FIRST DAY AT BLOSSOM ACADEMY, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY NOW?
I would tell myself not to be afraid and to enjoy the journey. Doing something new for the first time is always challenging, so I would try not to put too much pressure on myself.
WHICH INDUSTRY OR SECTOR IN AFRICA DO YOU BELIEVE HAS THE GREATEST UNTAPPED POTENTIAL FOR DATA & AI, AND WHY?
The Energy sector. As you may be aware, our power supply can be quite unstable. The equipment used in generating and distributing electricity produces vast amounts of data, much of which goes unused. I believe that with greater attention and proper utilization of this data, it can be leveraged to identify inefficiencies, improve decision-making, and help address some of the challenges facing the power sector.
