PLEASE DESCRIBE WHY YOU CHOSE TO APPLY FOR THE BLOSSOM ACADEMY FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM.
I applied to Blossom Academy because I wanted to move into the data field and I knew I needed structured training to do that. I didn’t just want to learn theory. I wanted practical skills that I could actually use in a job. The program looked hands-on and career-focused, and that was important to me. I wanted something that would prepare me for real opportunities, not just give me a certificate.
CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR CAREER RESPONSIBILITIES?
After completing the training, I became a Data Entry and Reporting Officer. In my role, I input and verify data, maintain accurate records, and generate reports. I make sure the data is clean, organized, and reliable.
Because of the training I received, I don’t just enter data. I pay attention to patterns, inconsistencies, and what the numbers are actually saying. That has helped me approach my work more analytically and with more confidence.
HOW DID BLOSSOM ACADEMY SUPPORT YOU IN PREPARING FOR YOUR CAREER?
Blossom Academy helped me build practical skills through projects that felt real. I learned how to clean data, analyze it, and present insights clearly. The mentorship and feedback also helped me improve and become more confident in my abilities.
The interview preparation sessions were especially helpful. They made it easier for me to explain my skills and position myself for opportunities. The training played a direct role in helping me secure my current role.
IF YOU COULD GO BACK AND SPEAK TO YOURSELF ON YOUR FIRST DAY AT BLOSSOM ACADEMY, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY NOW?
I would tell myself to stay consistent and not get overwhelmed. The learning curve may seem challenging at first, but it gets better with practice. I would also remind myself to ask questions and take every project seriously because it all adds up in the end.
WHICH INDUSTRY OR SECTOR IN AFRICA DO YOU BELIEVE HAS THE GREATEST UNTAPPED POTENTIAL FOR DATA & AI, AND WHY?
I believe agriculture has the greatest untapped potential. It is a major sector in Africa, but many decisions are still not data-driven. Using data and AI for forecasting, pricing, and supply chain management could significantly improve productivity and reduce waste.
There is also strong potential in the public sector, where better data systems could improve decision-making and service delivery.
