PLEASE DESCRIBE WHY YOU CHOSE TO APPLY FOR THE BLOSSOM ACADEMY FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM.
I chose Blossom Academy’s fellowship program because I was not just looking for a classroom where I could study and leave; I was looking for a place where I would be accepted, understood, and treated like family, not just another member of a cohort.
CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR CAREER RESPONSIBILITIES?
In my role as a Data Analyst at a credit bureau, I work with large volumes of financial and credit data. My primary responsibility is to analyze information about individuals and businesses to help banks, lenders, and other institutions make informed decisions.
I clean and organize raw data, identify patterns and trends, and create dashboards that present actionable insights. Essentially, I ensure that data is accurate, meaningful, and reliable so that organizations can trust it when making decisions about credit approvals and loan disbursements.
HOW DID BLOSSOM ACADEMY SUPPORT YOU IN PREPARING FOR YOUR CAREER?
Blossom Academy gave me the practical skills and confidence I needed for my career. They trained me in teamwork, real-world projects, problem-solving, and the use of data tools to present clear insights. They also supported me with mentorship, leadership skills, and career guidance.
IF YOU COULD GO BACK AND SPEAK TO YOURSELF ON YOUR FIRST DAY AT BLOSSOM ACADEMY, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY NOW?
I would tell myself to open up, be curious, and not be afraid to make mistakes. Also, ask questions and take full advantage of the project work because it will shape your career more than you realize.
WHICH INDUSTRY OR SECTOR IN AFRICA DO YOU BELIEVE HAS THE GREATEST UNTAPPED POTENTIAL FOR DATA & AI, AND WHY?
I think the agriculture sector has the greatest untapped potential for data and AI because it is the frontier where data meets survival. It has huge amounts of data that are not yet being fully utilized. Combined with the critical need for food security, data and AI can help address farming challenges, climate change, and poverty all at once. AI can transform farming from guesswork into a science, making it more productive, efficient, and equitable.
